JUST IN: Newly constituted NPA board to be inaugurated this week

By Innocent Raphael –
The newly constituted board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is set to be inaugurated this week, nearly one year after it was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reliable sources disclosed to Western Post that intrigues within the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy were responsible for the prolonged delay in the board’s inauguration.
The board, which was announced in July 2024, is chaired by former Minister of State for Works, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye.
Other members of the board include Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, the newly appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NPA; Engr. Ibrahim Abba Umar, Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services; Engr. Olalekan Badmus, Executive Director, Marine and Operations; and Ms. Vivian Richard-Edet, Executive Director, Finance and Administration.
The board is expected to work closely with the Federal Government and the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to drive key reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, revenue generation, and improving service delivery at Nigerian ports.
A former Minister of State for Works, NPA’s new chairman Adeyeye also previously served as the National Publicity Secretary of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere. He was elected Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District in 2019.
Widely regarded for his eloquence and commitment to governance, Adeyeye’s career spans law, journalism, and public service
