JUST IN: PDP, APC clash over Aiyedatiwa’s Ondo ‘thank-you tour’

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have clashed over Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s ongoing statewide thank-you tour.
The PDP, in a statement by its Director of Media and Public Communications, Wande Ajayi, criticised the tour, saying the governor should be unveiling completed projects after two years in office rather than visiting communities.
The party argued that Ondo residents deserved functional schools, hospitals, roads and job opportunities, not what it described as token gestures.
“At this point in his tenure, the governor ought to be embarking on a statewide commissioning tour of completed projects, not parading communities with N10,000 handouts that insult the dignity of Ondo people,” the PDP said.
It further alleged that most government projects were progressing slowly, claiming governance had been reduced to publicity rather than tangible development.
“Beyond press statements, none of these projects is up to 20 per cent completion. Governance has been reduced to optics while development is abandoned,” the party added.
Responding, the APC, through its Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, dismissed the allegations and defended the tour as a legitimate platform for engagement.
The ruling party said the thank-you tour was neither a charity exercise nor a substitute for governance, adding that ongoing projects across key sectors were visible and verifiable.
