JUST IN: Police foil suspected cult initiation in Ondo, arrest 25 suspects

Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have foiled a suspected cult initiation ceremony in Uso, arresting 25 alleged members of the Neo Black Movement.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday morning by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal.
According to the police, the operation followed actionable intelligence received on Thursday, January 8, 2026, indicating that the cult group was planning to initiate new members in the community.

The command stated that its operatives were swiftly deployed to the location, where they disrupted the gathering and arrested the suspects at the scene.
Police disclosed that suspects arrested were drawn from Ondo, Osun, Lagos and Edo states, adding that a Toyota Highlander SUV and an unregistered Daylong motorcycle were recovered during the operation.
The statement noted that the suspects were in custody and had allegedly confessed to cult-related activities, while investigations were ongoing ahead of their arraignment in court.
Commending the operatives, the police leadership warned youths against cultism and reassured residents of Ondo State of its commitment to sustaining a peaceful and crime-free environment.
