By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Police authorities have sealed the operational bases of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, in Osogbo and Ile-Ife following the killing of four persons, including three members of a family, allegedly by operatives of the outfit at Akinlalu community last week.

It was learnt that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Squad stormed the Amotekun base at Oke-Fia, Osogbo, on Wednesday evening.

The team was also said to have sealed the corps’ office in Ife Central Local Government Area.

Sources revealed that 25 operatives of the corps linked to the incident were arrested.

Reports indicated that the arrests followed allegations that Amotekun personnel opened fire on residents during an operation in Akinlalu community, leading to the death of four persons and injuries to several others.

The Public Relations Officer of Osun Amotekun, Yusuf Idowu, confirmed the development, saying, “They arrested 20 Amotekun operatives when the IGP squad raided our operational base located at Oke-Fia, Osogbo, on Wednesday. Our office at Ife Central was equally sealed, and five of our men were arrested.”
