President Bola Tinubu will travel to Accra, Ghana, on Monday, January 6, to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama on January 7, the presidency has announced.

Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s 4th President under the Fourth Republic from 2012 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024 and will succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo, whose tenure ends in January 2025.

In a statement on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the trip follows an invitation from Mahama, who met with President Tinubu in Abuja last month.

President Tinubu will be accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other senior government officials.

As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu will join other African leaders at the inauguration ceremony in Accra.
