JUST IN: Tinubu departs Rio after G-20 Leaders’ Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have departed Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, following their participation in the 2024 G-20 Leaders’ Summit.
The President attended the 19th Heads of State and Government meeting of the Group of 20 (G-20), hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva under the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.”
During the summit, President Tinubu engaged in high-level bilateral discussions aimed at advancing Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms. Key areas of focus included sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental dimensions, as well as reforms in global governance.
Other topics on the agenda included the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, relations between the United States and China, climate change, and principles for the digital economy.
The G-20 summit brought together leaders of the world’s largest economies to deliberate on strategies for addressing global challenges and building a more sustainable and equitable future.
