Kaduna commends Tinubu over ₦1.178 trillion infrastructure projects

The Kaduna State Government has expressed strong appreciation to President Bola Tinubu following the federal government’s approval of major infrastructure projects worth over ₦1.178 trillion in the state.

In a statement on Friday by Governor Uba Sani, the projects were described as “transformative infrastructure contracts that will indelibly reshape the economic and social landscape of our state.”

At the center of the approvals is the Kaduna Light Rail Project, valued at ₦1 trillion. The rail system will cover a 50-kilometre network, including a 30-kilometre route from Rigachikun to Sabon Tasha and a 20-kilometre line linking Millennium City to Rigasa.

Highlighting its significance, Sani said the project represents “not merely investments in infrastructure, but a deliberate re-engineering of mobility, security, and economic vitality across Kaduna State.”

The Federal Government also approved ₦178 billion for the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Mando–Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road, a key transport corridor expected to improve connectivity and security in the region.

Governor Sani noted that the light rail project would complement the state’s ongoing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, adding that federal backing is “both historic and catalytic” and reinforces Kaduna’s vision of “an integrated transport ecosystem.”

He further stated that Kaduna’s emergence as one of the few states pursuing a light rail system “speaks to the confidence reposed in our vision and our capacity for execution.”

On the Birnin Gwari road, the governor recalled President Tinubu’s earlier pledge, saying, “His promise then was unequivocal. Today, that promise is being fulfilled.”
