Kaduna school kidnap: We’ll rescue victims, Nigerian Military pledges

The Nigerian military has pledged to rescue the more than 200 school children recently abducted by bandits in Kaduna State.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, affirmed the military’s commitment to safely rescuing all kidnapped victims during a press conference in Abuja.

Buba further criticized school owners for not promptly reporting abduction cases to security agencies.

He also attributed the recent kidnapping of internally displaced persons in Borno State to their failure to follow instructions by leaving the camp without informing officials.

Recall that several abductions have taken place especially in the North in recent weeks, with that of 287 students in Kaduna State has prompting responses from Nigerian authorities.

Following the development, President Bola Tinubu instructed security agencies to apprehend the kidnappers and free the students, emphasizing his government’s stance against paying ransom.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris, reiterated Tinubu’s directive during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, as he emphasized the government’s zero tolerance for kidnapping, particularly mass abductions.
