Kaduna skills council sets example for economic growth – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised the Kaduna State Government for establishing a State Council on Skills, describing it as a national model for workforce development, youth employment and inclusive economic growth.
In a letter to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Shettima, who also chairs the National Council on Skills (NCS), said the inauguration of the council represents a strategic response to Nigeria’s human capital development and unemployment challenges.
The Vice President’s commendation followed discussions at the latest meeting of the National Council on Skills, where Kaduna State’s initiative was highlighted as a significant policy milestone in promoting coordinated skills development across the country.
According to Shettima, the creation of the council aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and provides a benchmark for other states to follow.
He noted that the establishment of a dedicated institutional structure for skills development demonstrates Kaduna State’s commitment to tackling unemployment and strengthening human capital in line with national priorities.
Shettima also described the initiative as a reflection of the state government’s broader vision for economic transformation through integrated development policies.
“This milestone is a testament to your administration’s vision of integrated economic growth,” the Vice President stated.
He further explained that the National Council on Skills considers the Kaduna model a vital example of a “bottom-up” approach to skills acquisition, stressing that such frameworks are crucial to ensuring vocational and technical training programmes effectively reach grassroots communities.
