Kanayo slams men who fail to provide for their families
Veteran Nigerian actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has criticized men who fail to provide for their families, stating that they have no right to intimacy with their wives.
In a recent Instagram post, the 62-year-old star of My Fairytale Wedding stressed that financial responsibility is a key aspect of marriage, emphasizing the importance of men taking care of their households.
“I’m saying it clearly: a man who cannot feed his family has no business using his private parts on a woman. It is a responsibility,” he said in part.
Kanayo further highlighted that men have a sacred duty to provide for their families through hard work, referencing holy scriptures to support his point.
He also advised women not to overly shield their husbands from the reality of financial struggles, warning that this can promote “laziness and irresponsibility.”
He stated, “I woke up to a disturbing trend — men relying on others to feed them. What’s worse is when women defend their husbands to keep household issues private, but this can sometimes hinder progress.”
Continuing, he added, “Every man has a duty to his family. Like we read in the holy books, a man who fails to provide for his family is worse than… This is advice for young women: know who you marry.
“I am disturbed by this trend. Do not make excuses for men that encourage irresponsibility, especially when your children are still growing, and there are school fees and other expenses. It puts undue pressure on the woman.
“I personally know of a case where a man ignored the fact that his wife’s car broke down, acting as though it wasn’t his problem. Every man needs to be hardworking.”
