Kano-based TikTok star arrested for defacing Naira

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano State has arrested popular TikTok star Murja Ibrahim Kunya on charges of Naira mutilation and abuse.
Murja was specifically apprehended for spraying money—an act that violates Nigerian law.
According to multiple reports, the commission confirmed Murja’s arrest.
She now joins controversial cross-dresser Bobrisky, who was arrested and jailed for the same offense in 2023.
Recently, the EFCC also arrested other TikTok influencers, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, on similar charges.
Neither the EFCC nor Murja Ibrahim Kunya’s legal representatives have issued an official statement regarding the matter.
The EFCC has been intensifying its crackdown on individuals who engage in the indiscriminate spraying of money at events such as parties and birthday celebrations.
