Kano Pillars GM Ahmed Musa apologises over violence in Shooting Stars clash

Kano Pillars’ General Manager, Ahmed Musa, has issued a public apology following the violent scenes that marred the club’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game against Shooting Stars Sports Club on Sunday evening.

In a statement on Monday, Musa described the incident as “heartbreaking, shameful, and completely unacceptable,” stressing that it does not reflect the values or identity of the club.

“What transpired against Shooting Stars is heartbreaking, shameful, and completely unacceptable. It does not represent the true values, identity, or the proud history of Kano Pillars,” the former Super Eagles captain said.

He extended “unreserved apologies” to Shooting Stars’ players, officials, referees, the NPFL board, GTI partners, and all football fans across Nigeria and beyond who were shocked by the incident.

“Violence has no place in football. It is unacceptable, unjustifiable, and goes against everything this beautiful sport stands for,” Musa stated, assuring that the club will cooperate with relevant authorities to identify and sanction those involved.

According to him, the management will also implement internal measures to prevent a recurrence, emphasising that “apologies alone are not enough; words must be followed by action.”

Addressing the club’s supporters directly, Musa urged them to uphold Kano Pillars’ legacy with respect and discipline, noting that “true support is shown not through violence, but through passion and respect.”

He concluded by pledging to restore the club’s integrity and the trust of Nigerian football fans: “We take full responsibility and will do everything necessary to restore trust, respect, and the true spirit of football in Kano and across Nigeria.”
