‘Keep Shettima as VP or lose our support in 2027’ — Sheik Jingir to Tinubu

The Spiritual Leader and National Chairman of the Ulam’u Council of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheik Sani Yahaya Jingir, has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against removing Vice President Kashim Shettima from the joint ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.

Sheik Jingir issued the warning during a religious event at the Yantaya Mosque in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Reacting to recent developments within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the cleric expressed concern over alleged plots by some individuals within and outside the party to damage the political relationship between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.

“I have learnt that some unpatriotic people within and outside the APC are making efforts to destroy Tinubu’s relationship with Shettima to achieve their selfish goals. That is not a welcome development, President Tinubu,” he said.

The Islamic leader stressed that he and many of his followers supported Tinubu and Shettima based on their joint ticket, warning that any attempt to drop the vice president would make him withdraw his support.

“Any attempt to drop Shettima, I won’t support it because they agreed to contest and work together. I supported them without taking a penny from them,” he stated.

Sheik Jingir further revealed that despite his close relationship with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, he chose to vote for Tinubu and Shettima in the last election.

He dismissed rumors suggesting a strained relationship between the president and the vice president, describing them as the handiwork of enemies determined to sow discord between the two leaders.
