Kidnappers demand N100m ransom for two abducted Osun residents

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The abductors of two residents of Ora-Igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State have demanded N100 million for their release after kidnapping them on Sunday night.
Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi were said to have been abducted around 11:30 pm when gunmen stormed a private residence along Aran–Orin Road in the Papa area of the community.
The Ora-Igbomina Youth Front, led by Comrade Omololu Abidoye, confirmed the ransom demand to journalists on Thursday.
Abidoye lamented that the incident was the second of its kind in less than two months, following the kidnapping of a retired Customs officer on December 15, 2025.
He disclosed that the repeated attacks had thrown the community into disarray, fear, and immeasurable tension, while criticising Governor Ademola Adeleke for allegedly failing to take steps to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
“Today, in less than two months after the first-ever community invasion and kidnapping recorded in our town, another incident occurred on Sunday, February 1, 2026, leaving two sons of the soil whisked away. Unarguably, the inability of security agencies to bring to book the perpetrators of the first case has created a convenient avenue for evildoers who specialise in kidnapping for ransom to strike again,” he said.
Abidoye, expressing the community’s helplessness, added, “The kidnappers have contacted us to demand N100 million ransom. Where do we get that from? We are farmers who love peace above all things.”
He called on the Osun State Government to install physical security barriers along the state boundary, which he said would prevent unauthorised entry into the state through border communities.
