Kidnappers kill RCCG pastor as So-Safe Corps rescues 7 abducted victims in Ogun

Gunmen on Saturday invaded a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) parish in Abule-Ori, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogun State, killing the pastor in charge and abducting seven church members.
This was disclosed in Abeokuta, the State capital by the Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps on Sunday.
A statement issued from the office of the State Commander the Corps, Soji Ganzallo through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf also said that the seven kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt.
The statement said that at about 2400hrs on Saturday, 1st July, 2023, the special operation team of the Corps, Owode-Egba Zonal Command under ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi received a distress call that some of the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori, were attacked during a vigil, while seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.
Ganzallo noted that the officers of the Corps were charged to go after the suspected criminals and were instructed to ensure the victims were rescued unhurt.
Ganzallo further revealed that the efforts of the Corps yielded a positive result and the seven victims were rescued while one of the kidnappers was killed. The other suspects sustained serious injury during the exchange of fire.
Ganzallo also revealed that the joint team of the Nigeria Police and the So-Safe Corps are pursuing the fleeing suspected kidnappers to capture them alive.
He noted that the body of the dead kidnapper had been deposited in the nearby morgue.
