Kogi APC delegates and the joke on Amaechi, By Kingsley Monday
We see and hear all manner of things during election season. From the ridiculous to the sublime. So, Rotimi Amaechi was in Kogi State to woo APC delegates last week. The former Minister and presidential aspirant anchored his message to the Kogi delegates on the premise that, as President of Nigeria, he will run an all-inclusive government.
For whatever the worth of the joke or, at best, the laughter it was meant to provoke, it is somewhat funny that the absurdity of that submission was lost on even Amaechi himself. Amaechi and inclusion do not mix. They are parallel lines that will never meet. Amaechi carried his farcical presidential bid too far with such claim of inclusion.
The question Kogi APC delegates and all APC delegates across Nigeria should really ask Amaechi is how has he run the party inclusively in Rivers State in 8 years. For a man who wants to be our President, the state he governed for 8 years and the Ministry he ran for 7 years as Minister should be his proof of concept. If he can not unite and hold APC together for 7 years in Rivers State, then the very idea of inclusion is alien to Amaechi.
It is on record that APC was disqualified from fielding candidate in all elective positions in Rivers State in 2019 election circle by Court and INEC because Amaechi would not allow internal democratic process. APC is fragmented from the top to bottom in Rivers State today because Amaechi does not have accommodating spirit to allow other views and interests in the running and management of the party.
As Minister of Transportation for 7 years, he ran the Ministry as his fiefdom and does not allow any contrary view in the running of the Ministry. He superintendented over the Ministry like a Lord of Manor. H rode roughshod over the Ministry and its agencies with impunity. He orchestrated the sack of Managing Director of Nigerian Port Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman because the woman refused to dance to his manipulative wiles. The way Amaechi threw his colleagues in Federal Cabinet under the bus during the recent unfortunate terrorist attack on Abuja-Kaduna bound train does not show a man that understands what inclusion and collective responsibility mean.
Amaechi is for himself and only himself. He is egomaniac and megalomaniac to boot. He knew he was lying to Kogi APC delegates when he promised them an all inclusive government. Kogi APC delegates and all delegates from 36 states and FCT should reject him at the presidential convention.
