Kogi backs FG’s economic efforts, urges citizens to reject protests

The Kogi State government has pledged its full support for federal initiatives aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s economy while urging citizens to reject violent protests.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, made this call in a press statement on Sunday, advocating for the “Not-In-My-State” movement against violent demonstrations.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly to restore economic stability through various fiscal and monetary policies,” Fanwo stated. “The Federal Government has also introduced economic incentives to address challenges in agriculture, industrialization, infrastructure, education, and healthcare.”
Fanwo highlighted that the administration of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo in Kogi State is committed to ensuring that these national efforts benefit the state.
Disclosing that the state has initiated significant investments in agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, he added that the government is providing palliatives to alleviate the economic hardships caused by years of mismanagement.
He stressed the importance of citizens supporting government efforts at all levels, arguing that protests would be justifiable only if no efforts were being made or if there were no positive outcomes. Protesting now, he warned, would undermine the rebuilding process and potentially lead to destructive consequences akin to the #EndSARS protests.
Fanwo suggested that opposition elements, disappointed by the gradual economic recovery, might seek to incite violence under the guise of protest. Credible intelligence, he said, indicates that certain opposition figures aim to destabilize the nation and disrupt its progress. The government remains resolute in preventing these unpatriotic actions.
He also noted that reports indicate Kogi citizens are ready to support President Tinubu’s economic policies and praised the people of Kogi for resisting the destabilizing efforts of opposition agents.
“The Kogi State government will intensify efforts to inform citizens about governmental actions at all levels,” Fanwo added. “Governor Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration is also committed to investments that address economic challenges, promote industrialization, and prioritize agriculture to reduce food prices and improve living standards.”
Fanwo concluded by urging parents and guardians to educate their wards on the importance of peace and stability, warning that Nigeria cannot afford another wave of violent destruction of public infrastructure.
