Kwakwanso, Obi and Makinde: all motion, no movement!, by Kola Amzat

Snails belong to animal colonies called gastropods which are soft-bodied and invertebrates. They are on the same spot all the time. Not for lack of motion, nor for lack of desire to move. Indeed, there is plenty of motion around them, even more than other animals in their group, but they simply don’t move.

They are rooted on the same spot, surprisingly oblivious of the predators hunting for them for the purpose of consumption or selling for commercial enterprise.

The politicians who have hijacked ADS, NNPP and NDS are like snails with a tendency to exhibit motion but lacking movement.

They keep on moving in cycle. It’s the same subject matter which they dwelt on many months ago that continues to dominate their agenda.

They converge in Abuja, Kano, and Ibadan during the day and night as well as in other locations across the country, deploying valuable time and efforts plotting to unhorse and undo the president in his divine political journey.

They continually deliberate on how to halt his bid for re-election.

It’s unfortunate that top political leaders engrossed in this misadventure are pretending not to acknowledge the stark reality in the political sphere, despite their years of sojourning at the corridor of power.

They’ve been enveloped and completely consumed by envy, jealousy and strife, so much that they’ve resolved to turn blind eyes to the present political reality.

While the president has dutifully emerged as only dominant force in all the 36 states of the federation, including FCT, Abuja that used to be the political fortress of PDP, Rabiu Kwakwanso has completely been dismantled in Kano state, the only political enclave that he’s not only been flaunting and hanging on, for political survival over decades, but also manage in manipulating to deploy in negotiation for political latitude.

His dearest son-in-law, the incumbent governor of the state recently parted with him by defecting to the ruling party.

With the governor already in the camp of who-is-who in Kano politics,  2027 general elections would present an opportune time for the political coffin of Kwakwanso to be eventually nailed.

Peter Obi, a political wonder of just one electoral cycle-2023 general elections, will in the fullest of time come to realization of the fact that he’s been totally deflated.

He would be living in full paradise if he still harbours the thought of replicating the electoral fortunes he recorded in few locations across the country on account of his electioneering campaigns that he anchored on religious and ethnic sentiments during that election.

The results of the subsequent elections after the 2023 general elections, particularly, the two by-elections conducted afterwards across the country, and even in his South east political domain, have since eloquently indicated that Obi’s sudden political surge was totally a fluke, as his influence has completely waned.

Seyi Makinde is only seeking for political SUCCOR by hobnobbing with other rejected politicians across the country on account of the home front that is presently very hot for him.

Even as an incumbent governor, he has totally lost influence and relevance in Oyo state.

Right there under his nose, a new chairman of PDP, a UI Professor of Food Technology and his EXCO team emerged and was already constituted to run the affairs of the party in the state without the knowledge of the governor.

Meanwhile, with billions of the state resources at his beck and call, Alhaji Gbolarumi, a former deputy governor of the state in a PDP administration recently affirmed that he’s fully in charge of the PDP structure in the state.

How do we now reconcile the governor’s grandstanding at the national level, particularly the ill-fated political meetings he’s been involved in, with the dire situation of political extinction he’s presently battling with at home.

And, compounding his case is the dead-on-arrival National Working Committee (NWC) he hurriedly put together with Oyo state hard-earned resources, a conscription that has been declared illegal, null and void by the High and Appellate courts.

Recently, Seriake Dickson, former governor of Bayelsa state who has been shoved aside in his home constituency, has opted to join the political rejected group.

These are the lesser quantities of politicians running helter-skelter, plotting day and night, and holding meetings to unseat a president with a divine mission and mandate to turn the tide and fortunes of the country.

As this writer submitted in one of his previous pieces, it would be a huge political disappointment if the president fails to record 70-75% of the total votes cast in the 2027 presidential elections.

The forthcoming elections could also be the first time in Nigeria annals, when a president would record a landslide in all the 36 states of the federation, including FCT, Abuja.

Indeed, this is the reality in the present political sphere.

No other justifications for the electoral projections above other than the president’s huge accomplishments over the last 32 months as succinctly captured below:

Very bold and unprecedented economic and oil & gas, anchored on unification of multiple exchange rates and removal of oil subsidy,   developments that have collaborated to facilitate the following milestones:

•        Unprecedented increase in crude-oil production presently standing at 1.71 million barrels/day.

•        Impressive performance of foreign reserves presently standing at $50 billion mark.

•        Record-breaking accomplishment of Nigeria Stock Exchange with market capitalization presently standing at ₦130 trillion mark, a mark of confidence and trust by the foreign and local investors in the bold reforms of the government.

•        Impressive positive Balance of Payment.

•        Substantial surge in revenue generation from non-oil sectors, with the country surpassing the revenue target by more than 85%, a development that has significantly increased revenues distribution to all the three tiers of government, and in the process, encouraging and strengthening the state governments’ investments in infrastructures, educations, medical facilities, social services and security.

•        Tax reforms anchored on four (4) pillars -(1) The Nigerian Tax Act, (2)Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment), (3)Nigeria Tax Administration Act and (4) the Joint Revenue (Establishment) Act, projected to streamline revenue administration, enhance compliance, strengthen intergovernmental coordination.

Besides, the president has become a rallying point for the most populous black country in the globe, linguistically, religiously, culturally and ethnically diversified, a unique trait that has enabled him to seamlessly penetrate all creed, sex, demography, religion across the country.

While the president and his ruling party continually attracting the goodwill, love and affection of all and sundry, the Kwakwansos, Makindes, Obis, Amaechis, Dicksons and their leader, Atikus continue to be rooted on the same plot, the location they would be, even, after the 2027 general elections might have concluded.
