KWAM1’s daughter joins Lagos Assembly race for Surulere seat

Damilola Ayinde Marshall, daughter of Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, has declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Marshall, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made her ambition known in a post shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday.

The legal practitioner said she would be contesting to represent Surulere Constituency 2, expressing readiness to serve and advocate for the interests of her constituents.

She noted that her 12-year career in law has equipped her with a strong understanding of governance, justice and community needs, adding that she is prepared to deliver effective leadership.

Marshall also pledged to represent the interests of young people, stating that she would serve as a voice for the youth if elected into the state legislature.

Appealing for public support, she urged voters to prioritise competence and progress, emphasising her commitment to advancing development in the constituency. She is expected to succeed Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who currently represents the constituency under the All Progressives Congress.

Marshall, a graduate of North America University, Houdegbe in Benin Republic, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2015 and later obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.

Her declaration has generated reactions on social media, with notable figures, including Davido and Dayo Amusa, expressing support for her political ambition.
