Scores of supporters, stakeholders, candidates and stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress on Sunday staged an appreciation procession tagged “Kwara Ndupe” across major parts of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Supporters displayed banners bearing photographs of the party’s candidates for various elective positions while chanting solidarity songs in support of the APC and its leadership.

Speaking to journalists during the procession, Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Hon. Abdullateef Alakawa, said the event was organised to thank God and the leadership of the party for conducting direct primary elections that reflected the aspirations of members.

Alakawa, who is also the coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the emergence of candidates for different elective offices showed that the wishes of party members prevailed during the primaries. He added that the APC remained the dominant political force in Kwara State.

He said the rally also served to mobilise party supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections and reaffirm their support for President Bola Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Addressing concerns over aggrieved members, Alakawa said the APC remained united despite the outcome of the primaries. He disclosed that reconciliation efforts were already underway to strengthen party cohesion before the elections.

The APC candidate for Kwara North Senatorial District, Dr. Ahmad Muhammad, thanked party members and residents of the district for supporting his emergence during the primaries. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.

Similarly, the APC candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District, Mr. Olalekan Adewoye, expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for giving him the opportunity to fly the APC flag in the forthcoming elections. He called on supporters to remain united as the party prepares for the 2027 polls.
