Kwara Assembly approves N509.8 bn supplementary budget

The Kwara State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary appropriation budget totaling N509.89 billion.

The budget amount which was considered and approved during Thursday’s plenary session by the Committee of Supply, represents an increase of N217.15 billion over the initially proposed budget of N292.74 billion.

Presenting the report, the Chairperson of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Arinola Fatima Lawal, who represents Ilorin East Constituency, stated that the budget would fund capital projects, including the completion of ongoing and new infrastructure projects across the state.

Arinola urged her colleagues to support the passage of the budget for the development of the state.

The Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danlad-Salihu, subsequently announced the passage of the supplementary budget after the majority of the lawmakers expressed their support. The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to prepare a clean copy for the governor’s assent.
