The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Police Command, CP Victor Olaiya, has urged the public to reconsider participating in the impending protest, providing important guidance to citizens who wish to exercise their constitutional rights peacefully, while issuing a stern warning to those with malicious intent.

In a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, on Sunday, the Kwara State Police Command discouraged citizens from participating in the protest. The statement reminded everyone that any attempt by miscreants to hijack the peaceful protest for selfish ends would not be tolerated.

CP Olaiya reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring public safety and order.

“Any individual or group caught engaging in acts of violence, looting, arson, or any other criminal activities will face the full wrath of the law. The police have deployed adequate personnel and resources to monitor the protest closely, and our surveillance units are equipped to identify and apprehend troublemakers swiftly. Anyone found instigating violence or attempting to disrupt the peace will be arrested and prosecuted without hesitation,” the statement read.

The Police emphasized its dedication to supporting the constitutional rights of all citizens while maintaining peace and security in the state.

While urging community leaders and local vigilantes to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to prevent any breakdown of law and order, it called on all individuals to conduct themselves with dignity and responsibility to ensure that society remains peaceful and constructive.
