Kwara CP pledges maximum security ahead LG polls

Ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, CP Victor Olaiya, has assured residents of robust security measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly process.
CP Olaiya, in a statement, emphasized that the police command has implemented comprehensive security plans to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process across all polling units in the state.
Speaking to residents, he assured them that their safety remains a top priority, with extensive efforts being made to prevent any form of violence or disruption.
In preparation for the elections, the Commissioner convened a high-level security meeting on Wednesday with key officials from the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Federal Fire Service. The meeting focused on coordinated strategies to ensure law and order before, during, and after the election.
This collaboration highlights the unified commitment of all security agencies in Kwara State to maintain peace and uphold the democratic process. Their joint forces will be deployed across the state to provide round-the-clock surveillance and protection of lives and property.
“We urge the people of Kwara State to remain calm, law-abiding, and to fully cooperate with security personnel on duty. The Kwara State Command, in partnership with sister agencies, is working tirelessly to create a secure environment, and we are confident that the elections will proceed smoothly and successfully,” CP Olaiya stated.
Residents have been encouraged to come out in large numbers to exercise their civic responsibility without fear of intimidation, as security personnel will be stationed at strategic points to provide maximum protection throughout the election period.
