Kwara flags off construction of new government offices in Ilorin

The Kwara State Government has commenced the construction of new office buildings in Ilorin to accommodate more public and civil servants and improve service delivery across the state.

The site of the new offices, located adjacent to the Deputy Governor’s Office at the Government House, was officially handed over to Mapet Construction Ltd. during a brief ceremony on Tuesday.

Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, who spoke at the event, dismissed reports that the government was building a new Government House, describing them as fake news.

He explained that the project is part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to providing a modern and befitting working environment for government functionaries to carry out their duties effectively.

Ogunsola said the one-storey building will include a conference room and multiple office spaces, adding that the Ministry will closely monitor the construction to ensure timely and quality delivery within a one-year timeframe.

“These new offices will bridge existing gaps and meet the current trend of enhancing the smooth running of the state in order to deepen democratic dividends for the people,” he said.

Officials present at the event included the General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency, QS Raheem Abdulbaki; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaja Risikat Atinuke; Director of Administration and Finance at Government House, Alhaji Shina Akorede; and representatives from Baron Architecture.

Architect Awolola Emmanuel Tolulope, who represented the contractor, assured the government of the company’s capacity to deliver a quality project within the stipulated timeline, citing its track record in similar projects.
