Kwara gets first female Commissioner of Police

In a groundbreaking move, the Nigeria Police Force has appointed the first female Commissioner of Police for the Kwara State Command. She is Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi.

The announcement of this historic appointment was made over the weekend, marking a significant milestone for the state.

CP Adelesi takes the reins from her predecessor, Paul Odama, who was redeployed following his promotion to the position of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

Hailing from Ogun State, CP Adelesi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role.

Interestingly, this is not Adelesi’s first encounter with the Kwara State Police Command. Sources revealed that she previously served as the Deputy Commissioner (DCP) – Administration, during the tenure of the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, when he held the position of Kwara State CP. It was during her time in Kwara that she earned her promotion to CP before being redeployed to the Lagos State Command, where she served as CP General Investigation.

Ajayi Okasanmi, the command’s spokesman, confirmed this appointment on Sunday, emphasizing the significance of having a female leader at the helm of the police force in Kwara State.

With the appointment of Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi, Kwara State takes a giant leap towards gender equality and diversity in law enforcement, setting an inspiring example for other states and institutions to follow.
