The Kwara State Government has made improvements to its environmental sanitation efforts with the delivery of five new waste management trucks and 70 roll-on/roll-off (roro) bins to the State Ministry of Environment.
The equipment, procured under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, was unveiled on Friday in Ilorin by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Buge.
Speaking at the event, the governor said the new vehicles and bins will significantly improve waste collection, environmental monitoring, and sanitation operations across urban and rural communities in the state.

“All the vehicles are branded in distinct environmental colours to ensure visibility and reinforce the identity of the Ministry of Environment in the field,” Hajia Buge said.
She commended the governor’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and climate resilience, noting that the launch was not just symbolic but a practical investment in healthier and cleaner communities.

“This initiative empowers our frontline staff to work faster, safer, and more effectively—contributing to the vision of a healthy, clean, and environmentally secure Kwara State,” she added.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Abubakar Ayinla, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and confirmed the receipt of the trucks and bins. He said the equipment would strengthen the state’s capacity for improved waste management.
He praised Governor AbdulRazaq for approving the procurement, adding that the additions would complement existing facilities and enhance overall field efficiency.
