Kwara governor urges party unity, pledges infrastructure development
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has called for unity, understanding, and peace among members and elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, emphasizing these as essential for sustaining the party’s success.
The governor made the appeal over the weekend in Ilorin, the state capital, while addressing members of the Ifelodun APC Elders’ Council led by Senator Makanjuola Ajadi.
Governor Abdulrazaq lauded the contributions of the council and other stakeholders to the party’s achievements and promised to prioritize their demands, particularly in road construction, social amenities, and political appointments.
“I want us to strengthen and deepen the spirit of working together. A divided house will lead us nowhere. Unity is essential. If we are divided, people will take advantage of us. Let us work together and look forward to a year of more prosperity, stability, and proper engagement among ourselves,” he said.
The governor expressed dissatisfaction with contractors handling some road projects in the Ifelodun region, including the Ora township road, and assured the council that necessary steps are being taken to address the situation.
He highlighted completed projects such as the Orisa Bridge, which connects Irepodun to Ifelodun local government areas, as evidence of his administration’s commitment to development.
Senator Makanjuola Ajadi, speaking on behalf of the council, reaffirmed their support for the APC and commended the governor’s impressive performance, noting visible achievements in road construction, hospital rehabilitation, and school improvements across the state.
“There is hardly anyone who can say they have not seen your work in their ward. In Babanloma, where I am the Asiwaju, we have seen your works in various sectors,” he said, while urging the governor to prioritize additional projects such as the 5km Oro-Ago to Oke-Oyan road, which he described as a major challenge for residents.
Arch. Lukman Abubakar, APC Chairman in Ifelodun, also praised the governor’s interventions on the Ajase-Ipo/Igbaja road and appealed for attention to other key roads, including the Igbaja-Oke-Ode/Sagbe road, Panada-Agbayangi-Yaru road, and Marafa/Oke-Ode road.
Other members of the delegation, including Alhaji M.T. Lawal, Alhaji Abdulrahoof Bello Labelabe, Alhaja Barakat Atunse, and Hon. Nike Ayilara, expressed appreciation for the administration’s efforts and pledged their continued support for the party’s growth and development in the state.
