Kwara Govt reintroduces free bus palliative to ease transport costs

The Kwara State Government has reintroduced a bus palliative program to provide relief to residents of Ilorin Metropolis amidst the current economic challenges in Nigeria.

The Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, announced this in her office, stating that the initiative is part of the State’s efforts to cushion the impact of rising transportation costs.

She explained that designated buses will provide free transportation to all residents, highlighting that these buses are heavily subsidized and will operate on specific routes within Ilorin, the State Capital.

The Commissioner mentioned that key routes covered by the buses include Sango, Ogidi, Mandate, Post Office, and Amoyo, among others. This service will ensure that commuters, especially students, workers, and low-income earners, can move across the city with ease.

She emphasized the State Government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Kwara residents, urging them to take advantage of the palliative support and to remain patient as the government works on long-term economic recovery measures.

The Commissioner further assured the public that this intervention will continue for an extended period, with plans to review and expand the service based on the evolving economic situation.

She reiterated that the primary goal of this initiative is to reduce the financial burden on residents who are already grappling with the high cost of living.
