Kwara: NSCDC beefs up security ahead of nationwide protest

As momentum builds ahead of the nationwide protest, the Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Umar Mohammed, has issued a stern warning to those who may seek to exploit the protest for criminal activities and cause unrest in the state.

He disclosed that the command is on red alert, with robust measures in place to ensure law and order are upheld before, during, and after the protest.

This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC 1 Shola Ayoola, on Monday in Ilorin.

The statement emphasized that the command will not stand idly by while hoodlums wreak havoc and vandalize critical national assets and infrastructure. Adequate deployment will be made across the state to ensure the security of life and property.

While acknowledging the citizens’ right to protest, Dr. Mohammed urged the youth and other concerned citizens to lawfully and peacefully express their grievances, ensuring that national security and public safety are not compromised.

The Commandant encouraged law-abiding Kwarans to continue with their daily activities without fear, affirming that stringent measures have been employed to address any potential threats.
