Kwara, Osun, Ogun record slowest rise in inflation rate, says NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Friday disclosed that Kwara, Osun and Ogun states recorded the slowest rise in all items inflation rate in March 2022.

The report stated that Cross River and Kogi states recorded the highest all items inflation rate in the month under review.

The bureau said: “In March 2022, All Items Inflation on year-on-year basis was highest in Cross River (18.42per cent) followed by Kogi with 18.18 per cent and Gombe with 18.09 per cent, while Kwara recorded the slowest rise with 14.03 per cent followed by Osun (14.14 per cent) and Ogun (14.22 per cent).

“On month-on-month basis, all items inflation in March 2022, recorded the highest increases in Niger (3.41per cent). This was followed by Benue with 2.88per cent and Zamfara with 2.87per cent, while Oyo recorded the slowest rise on month-on-month basis with 0.30per cent. This was followed by Abuja with 0.37per cent and Jigawa (0.50per cent).”

The report also disclosed that in March 2022, food inflation on year-on-year basis was highest in Kogi with 22.21per cent followed by Cross River recording 19.86per cent and Kwara (19.53per cent ), while Sokoto recorded the slowest rise in year-on-year food inflation with 14.04per cent followed by Kaduna and Rivers with 14.66per cent and 14.81per cent respectively.

“On month-on-month basis food inflation in March 2022 was highest in Anambra with 3.78per cent, followed by Niger with 3.60per cent and Zamfara with 3.31per cent, while Oyo recorded the slowest rise on month-on-month inflation with -0.19per cent followed by Jigawa and Ekiti with -0.10per cent and 0.41per cent respectively,” the NBS report on food inflation added.
