Members of the All Progressives Congress in Isin, Ilorin West, and Ilorin East local government areas of Kwara State have expressed confidence that Kwara South district has the most qualified governorship aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections.
The position was made known during separate meetings held in Oke Onigbin, Mandate, and Zango areas of Ilorin, where party members also endorsed Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa as their preferred governorship aspirant.
Accordingly, the members described Bolarinwa, a former state chairman of the APC, as a competent leader capable of sustaining the developmental strides of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
In Isin Local Government Area, the endorsement was championed by the Isin Progressive Likeminds led by Kayode Olaoye, who said the decision followed extensive consultations and grassroots engagement.
Furthermore, the group noted that the current political climate requires visionary and inclusive leadership that can promote unity, equity, and sustainable development across the state.
Consequently, stakeholders resolved to mobilize support across all wards, while engaging traditional rulers, community leaders, and other key actors to advance the governorship ambition.
Similarly, at the Ilorin West stakeholders’ meeting, convened by Ayo Obisesan and supported by Yahya Duro Uthman Hambali, party leaders agreed to back a candidate they believe can effectively drive the state’s future development.
Meanwhile, members of the Ilorin East Progressive Caucus, led by Babatunde Asanlu, also endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027 while affirming Bolarinwa as a tested leader with strong grassroots support.
