KWASU convocates 16, 315 students for two academic sessions

The Ag Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Prof Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh has said a total of 16,315 students would be graduating during its 10th and 11th combined convocation ceremony.

Prof.Jimoh made this disclosure at a convocation Press briefing held at the Muhammadu Buhari Main Library of the University on Tuesday at Malate.

He explained that the institution produced 11,096 first degrees and 767 higher degrees graduates for 2021/2022 academic session.

The Ag. Vice added that for the 2022/2023 academic session, the institution had 4,107 students for first degrees and 345 students for higher degrees.

He further explained that the institution produced for the combined convocation, a total number of 183 first class, 5,145 second class upper division, 8,420 lower class division, 1,455 third class division, 195 PhD and 917 Masters degree.

Prof Jimoh told newsmen that the institution had continued to achieve tremendous achievements since last convocation, maintaining that the institution had maintained her tradition of academic stable calendar despite several challenges.

He applauded the state government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for facilitating enabling environment that encourages dialogue and joint consideration of issues towards resolving them.

He spoke on the institution’s desire to accelerate the pace of state and national development through its contributions to human capital development of the country.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the institution had full accreditation status in virtually all the academic programmes it runs, adding that since 2021, the University had secured NUC’s approval to commence 24 new programmes.

On academic programmes, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the institution’s focus is to strategically position its research and graduates to meet current, emerging and even re-emerging challenges.
