Building control agency evacuates occupants of another distressed 3-storey building

Officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABCA) have started evacuating occupants of another three storey building that is showing serious signs of distress in Ebute Metta to avert another looming disaster.
The Zonal Coordinator Southwest, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, said though the building has not collapsed, the evacuation was ongoing to save lives and property.
The building had earlier been marked as distress but the occupants were deviant in leaving the premises, Farinloye said.
It would be recalled that a 3-storey building collapsed on Workers’ Day in the same area, leading to the death of 10 persons, according to NEMA, while 23 others were rescued with varying degrees of injuries.
