Ladigbolu congratulates new Alaafin, reflects on royal contest

Prince Ayobami Sanda Ladigbolu, a former contender for the Alaafin stool, has congratulated Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade on his ascension as the new Alaafin of Oyo, affirming that his rise to the throne was divinely ordained.
In a heartfelt statement, Prince Ayobami expressed his joy and support for the newly crowned monarch. “Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade has been destined to take the throne. I am happy for him, and the entire Ladigbolu family felicitates with the new king,” he said.
He also thanked the Agbonhin Sanda Oridota family for nominating him as a candidate from the Ladigbolu section of the Agunloye royal family. He expressed appreciation to his family and brother, Prince Agogo Kamilu, for their support throughout the royal race.
Reflecting on his personal journey, Prince Ayobami shared the unique experience of the contest, which allowed him to engage with people from various social classes and meet influential figures. “I had the most joy of my life during the competition for the Alaafinate’s crown,” he remarked.
He acknowledged the role of money in the race for power, revealing that financial constraints caused some of his initial supporters to switch allegiance. “When I needed their help, those I had previously supported did the exact reverse for me,” he stated.
Despite the challenges, Prince Ayobami expressed no resentment. “I just took away some lessons for the future,” he said, thanking those who supported him financially and emotionally, especially his family and close associate Labby Owoboye.
Prince Ayobami also shared a special bond with fellow contenders Prince Kolade Tunde Sanni Oladigbolu and Omo’ba Oladigbolu Muideen Adekunle, describing the three of them as “musketeers” who love each other like blood brothers.
He concluded by urging the people of Oyo to support the new Alaafin and manage any controversies that may arise. “We should support the new king to build a viable Oyo and Yoruba land of our dream,” he said, expressing hope for progress under the new leadership.
