Lagos 2023: Why I dumped APC for Labour Party- Salvador

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State and leader of the Conscience Forum, Hon. Moshood Salvador, has said the failure of the party to fulfil promises made to his group in 2018 prompted his defection to the Labour Party (LP).
Salvador, who officially declared to contest the governorship election under LP, on Wednesday in Surulere, Lagos, said that his group was marginalised in the running of the APC and so there was need to dump the party.
He said: “APC did not appreciate us at all. The party made 22 promises when we were defecting in 2018. We were promised 100 LAWMA slots, 100 LSNC jobs, 2 Commissionership slots, SSAs and other employment opportunities for our members but none was fulfilled. We were also sidelined during congresses.
“Our members were never invited to Ward and local government meetings not to talk of State meeting. Any right thinking person will look for where he will be recognised.
“In Council election, none of our group members was allowed to be Councillor, talk less of having Council chairman. Our people were marginalised completely from the scheme of things in the party. It is not worthy to stay in such party,” he said.
Speaking further, the one-time State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said his interest in politics was to better the life of the people, adding that he left the PDP because the party was not ready to win elections in the state.
He said that the LP would work assiduously to wrestle power from the ruling APC in the state in 2023, saying that his achievements and track records would speak for him.
While addressing LP supporters, Deputy National Chairman, Alhaji Bashiru Apanpa, described Salvador as a ‘big fish’ in the party, saying that his achievements over the years were unbeatable.
Apanpa advised members to commence grassroots mobilisation ahead of the general elections, saying that the party had not only come to stay but also to win elections both at the federal and state levels.
