Lagos APC tackles Dele Momodu over comments on Tinubu, opposition strategy

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized journalist and politician, Mr. Dele Momodu, over his recent comments on the political strength of President Bola Tinubu and the state of the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed on Saturday by the party’s spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the APC described Momodu as a “serial political tourist” who lacks the credibility to offer strategic advice to the opposition.
Oladejo said the party received with “characteristic amusement” Momodu’s comments urging opposition figures to play the ethnic card since, in his words, “Jonathan and Obi can’t defeat Tinubu.”
“What moral or strategic authority does Dele Momodu possess to lecture anyone about political strategy?” Oladejo asked. “A man whose political history is nothing but a long tale of experiments, misadventures, and failed auditions for relevance.”
He added that Momodu’s past electoral experience offered no lessons in political success. “If anything, Momodu should be the last person to speak on winning strategies. His own record reads like a manual on how not to win in politics — loud on commentary, empty on substance,” he stated.
Oladejo said Nigerians were now focused on leaders who could deliver results rather than divide the nation along ethnic lines. He noted that under President Tinubu, Nigeria was being rebuilt on “the foundation of equity, inclusion, and reform.”
“The days of weaponizing ethnicity as a shortcut to power are long gone,” he said. “Leadership is earned through vision, performance, and consistency — not through editorials written from the sidelines of social gigs.”
The APC spokesman maintained that the 2027 general elections would serve as a referendum on competence and performance, adding that “political realists have already accepted the defeat of the opposition, individually and collectively.”
