Gbajabiamila, Seriki, Danmole join senatorial race to replace Sen Tinubu

Few weeks after the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt (Hon) Femi Gbajabiamila, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Ademola Seriki and a former Commissioner during the administration of Babatunde Raji Fashola, Oyinlomo Danmole have thrown their hats into the ring to succeed wife of the National Leader of the party, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu for the Lagos Central Senatorial District.

Also in the race is the current Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni.

Although, all of them have not openly declared their intentions but feelers from their camps disclosed that they have begun secret moves to win the hearts of the leaders of the party from the Senatorial district.

Senator Tinubu will be completing her third term in the Senate after taking over from the late Sen. Adekunle Muse in 2011.

WesternPost gathered that Gbajabiamila has begun moves to lobby some of the leaders of the Senatorial district for the ticket, most especially those from Surulere where he currently represents in the House of Representatives.

Also, Ambassador Seriki who hails from Lagos Island has started consultations within the district in earnest to woo to his side, major stakeholders and those that played key role in the emergence of Senator Tinubu in 2011.

Seriki’s posters have flooded not only the social media but also some areas on Lagos Island and Apapa.

Close allies of Danmole said that he may declare openly soon because he has been able to secure the support of some Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) members who are from the Lagos Central.

Eshinlokun, who is a known political godson of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is said to have the backing of some stakeholders in the district who are Lagos Island indiegenes and also have the ears of Asiwaju Tinubu.
