Lagos Christian Pilgrims, currently on a spiritual journey across Jordan and Israel, have continued their pilgrimage by visiting significant biblical and historical sites. They are set to return to Lagos on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025.
Among the holy sites visited was Mount Tabor, known as the traditional location of the Transfiguration of Christ and the meeting place of Moses and Elijah. This site, mentioned multiple times in the Old Testament, is a prominent landmark in Lower Galilee, Israel.
The pilgrims also visited the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount, often referred to as “The Constitution of the Kingdom.” Other key destinations included the Church of Multiplication, commemorating Jesus’ miracle of feeding the multitudes, and Capernaum, known as the City of Jesus, featuring St. Peter’s Church, built on the site of Peter’s house.
A highlight of the journey was a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, accompanied by praise, sermons, and prayer sessions. The experience was described as deeply spiritual and uplifting.
The climax of the pilgrimage was the baptism at the River Jordan, where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Many pilgrims expressed profound joy and described the experience as transformative.
Led by Revd. Dr. Dele Ajayi of the Chapel of Christ The Light Church, Ikeja, the spiritual exercise included morning devotions, evening fellowships, and prayers for personal and national healing.
The pilgrims are scheduled to return to Amman, Jordan’s capital, before departing for Lagos on Wednesday.
