Lagos Govt issues ultimatum to residents of distressed buildings at Iponri

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has given a 2-week ultimatum to residents of more than 15 distressed buildings at Iponri Housing Estate to pull them down.

General Manager of LASBCA, Architect Gbolahan Oki, said the Agency has issued several notices and warning to the affected residents to vacate the area.

The residents, according to him, agree that the buildings are distressed but some are bringing up issues of ‘court order’.

This is what the agency faces in trying to do the right thing until the building collapse happens and the Government still gets the blame, Oki lamented.

A meeting between the Managing Director of the Lagos Building Investment Company (LBIC) and representatives of the affected buildings has been scheduled for Monday, October 21.
