Lagos Lawmaker Saheed declares second-term bid, cites performance as key advantage

The lawmaker representing Kosofe State Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Femi Saheed, has declared his intention to seek a second term, expressing confidence that his performance will earn him re-election.

Saheed made this known while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of his declaration of interest held at his residence in the Agiliti area of Kosofe.

He said his experience in office has reinforced his belief that public service is a call to serve humanity, adding “When I came into office, I realised that lawmaking is a call from God. It is about serving the people selflessly, often at the expense of personal comfort. But when you give your best and the people appreciate your efforts, that alone is fulfilling”.

Reflecting on his legislative journey, Saheed noted that he assumed office with a strong passion to improve governance and positively impact his constituency. He highlighted several infrastructural and social interventions carried out during his first term.

“Within this period, I facilitated the construction of 12 roads, attracted a 1,200-capacity FIFA-standard stadium, and supported the rebuilding of schools, including one in Odo Ogun,” he said, adding that he also introduced student shuttle buses and facilitated water projects in areas such as OPIC Isheri Estate.

He further stated that he supported education through the distribution of over 1,000 JAMB forms, scholarships, bursaries, and school furniture, while also launching medical and food palliative programmes and helping graduates secure jobs in government agencies. He added that abandoned projects like the Ketu–Alapere–Demurin Road were completed through his intervention.

On political developments, Saheed cautioned against the imposition of candidates, calling for fairness and transparency.

“We are ready for a fair primary election. Our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains a father to all, and his name should not be used to impose candidates,” he said.
