Lagos opens Iyana-Era road, Ojo to motorists after construction of bridge

The Lagos State government has completed the reconstruction of a failed portion of the Iyama-Era Road in Ojo Local Government Area of the State.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on New Media, Jubril Gawat disclosed this in a Facebook post on Monday.

According to him, the completion was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic which stopped the contractor from mobilising workers to site.

The bridge which was built on the part of the road experiencing overflooding was however opened for use earlier this month with the other section of the road nearing completion.

“The reconstruction of the failed section on Abule-Ilogbo-Era Road, Ojo Local Government Area was awarded on 31st December 2020 but due to effect of COVID-19 pandemic, the contractor was unable to mobilize to site until August 2021.

“The failed section on the road was as a result of overflooding from the canal, the road has been in a dilapidated state for years hence the need to construct a bridge was of necessity. Hence this called for the intervention of Lagos State government under the Leadership of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu

“The bridge was opened for use on the 6th August, 2022 to ease vehicular movement to and from the affected communities while the entire road will be completed soon,” Gawat posted.
