Lagos opens recruitment for doctors, nurses, other health professionals

The Lagos State Government has commenced the recruitment of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to fill vacancies across its 29 secondary healthcare facilities as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and address workforce shortages.

The Lagos State Health Service Commission (LSHSC) announced the exercise in a statement on Monday, saying Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the recruitment to fill existing vacancies in general hospitals across the state.

According to the commission, the exercise is in line with the administration’s THEMES Agenda and is intended to improve access to quality healthcare for residents while reducing the impact of brain drain on the state’s health sector.

“In line with the THEMES Agenda of the present administration and in fulfilling the promise of qualitative healthcare delivery to the residents of Lagos State, Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, approved the recruitment of clinical staff to fill the existing vacancies in the 29 secondary healthcare facilities in the state,” the commission said.

The available positions include consultants in various specialties, senior registrars, medical officers, dental officers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, medical laboratory scientists, optometrists, radiographers, nursing officers, clinical psychologists and health assistants.

The commission said applications would be accepted only through its online recruitment portal, which opened on July 13 and will close on July 24, 2026.

It added that only shortlisted candidates would be invited for a computer-based test and interview as part of the recruitment process.

The commission also warned applicants against paying anyone for the exercise, stressing that the recruitment is free of charge.
