Lagos Police denies invading CDHR Office

The Lagos Police Command has denied invading the office of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ikeja.

It would be recalled that the EndBadGovernance Organisng Committee on Friday in Lagos, held its symposium and candlelight for those killed during the hunger protests across the country.

While the symposium was ongoing, security operatives including the Department of State Services (DSS) officials were sighted in front of the office.

However,  the Lagos Police Command through its Spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin on his X handle, said the policemen were at the CDHR office to provide security for the protesters’ procession to Alausa.

Hundeyin added that there was no invasion, adding that nobody was stopped from gaining access to the building.

“The police were present around the venue but at no point did the police invade the venue or stop anyone from gaining access to the venue. The symposium held without any form of hindrance and under adequate security provided by the police and other security agencies.

“We have seen pictures from the CDHR itself of police officers meters away from the building but are yet to see pictures of any invasion or obstruction.

“There was no invasion! We even provided security for their procession from Adeniyi Jones to Alausa”, said Hundeyin.
