Lagos Police investigates cause of injury on 12-year old girl

The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has ordered a detailed investigation into the alleged hit of 12-year-old Amina Alege by a teargas canister fired by officers of Dopemu Division.

WesternPost reports that Alege was hit by a teargas canister when the police was responding to public disturbance by students of Abibat Mogaji Millenium Secondary School Iloro and Iloro Junior Grammar School Iloro both in Dopemu on Friday, February 9.

Spokesman for the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known in a statement posted on his X handle on Friday ( Today).

Hundeyin said that the Commissioner visited the girl at the hospital, adding ” CP Fayoade has ordered a detailed investigation into the incident, outcome of which will be made available to members of the public.

“The Lagos State Police Command assures the general public that the investigation will be comprehensive and no attempt whatsoever will be made at a cover-up; while equally assuring that any police officer found culpable in the matter will be dealt with in accordance with the law”.
