Lagos sets December 2 for second BECE resit

The Lagos State Government has announced Monday, December 2, 2024, as the date for the second phase of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Resit.

The initiative aims to provide a lifeline for students who were unable to participate in the first resit held on November 6, 2024.

In a statement signed by the Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Orunsolu Adebayo, the decision underscores the state’s commitment to ensuring academic inclusivity and excellence.

He explained that the resit focuses on core subjects, particularly English Studies and Mathematics, which are mandatory for students transitioning to Senior Secondary School (SSS I).

“The Lagos State Examinations Board is committed to conducting credible and reliable exams to shape the future of our students. This second resit ensures that no student is left behind,” Adebayo stated.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education’s “Leave No Child Behind” policy, which emphasizes equitable access to quality education.

The Director called on stakeholders, including school authorities, to ensure the affected students seize this opportunity. He also appealed for collaboration in achieving the state’s educational objectives.

The resit will take place at the Lagos State Examinations Board premises in Iyana Ipaja, starting at 10:00 a.m. Students are urged to arrive promptly and prepare adequately for the examination.
