Lagos SWAN mourns tragic loss of veteran journalist, Dapo Sotuminu

The Lagos State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (Lagos SWAN) is in mourning following the tragic passing of one of its vibrant members, Dapo Sotuminu.
Sotuminu passed away on Wednesday morning after a brief illness, leaving the journalism and sports community in shock.
Expressing his grief, Lagos SWAN Chairman, Debo Oshundun, described the loss as a devastating blow to the Association.
He said, “This is a loss that strikes at the heart of our Association and serves as a painful reminder of the challenges we face. Sotuminu’s untimely departure, coming so soon after the death of another member, Adeyinka Adebayo, leaves an indelible mark on Lagos SWAN and its members.”
Oshundun described Sotuminu as a consummate professional and passionate journalist who was always ready to rise to the occasion when called upon. Reflecting on his career, Oshundun highlighted Sotuminu’s dedication to excellence and professionalism throughout his illustrious journey.

Beyond his professional achievements, Sotuminu was a visionary who actively championed grassroots sports development. He made significant contributions as the Director General for Sports at the Surulere Local Government Area in Lagos and as the driving force behind the Victor Ikpeba 5-Aside Tournament.
