Lagos to commence consultative meetings for 2025 budget
In preparation for the 2025 fiscal year, the Lagos State Government has announced a series of consultative meetings with residents across the state, set to begin on Tuesday, July 23.
The Ministry of Information and Strategy disclosed this recently, reiterating that the forum serves as an annual event where government officials engage with citizens to discuss their developmental needs, provide updates on ongoing projects, and address local issues.
These meetings, part of the ‘Budget Consultative Forum,’ aim to gather input on developmental projects to be included in the upcoming budget.
The initiative, it noted, aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s philosophy of ‘Leaving No One Behind,’ ensuring inclusive participation in the state’s budget formulation process.
Ope George, Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, will lead the five-day event, which will span the state’s five divisions: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe.
The schedule for the Budget Consultative Forum is as follows:
- Tuesday, July 23: Lagos division at Blessing Hall, Eko Club.
- Wednesday, July 24: Ikeja division at Multipurpose Hall, Radio Lagos, Agidingbi.
- Thursday, July 25: Ikorodu division at Ikorodu Town Hall.
- Friday, July 26: Epe division at Jubilee Chalet, Epe.
- Tuesday, July 30: Badagry division at Makanjuola Auditorium, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.
The forum will host representatives from various sectors, including residents, traditional rulers, professional bodies, civil society groups, government officials, non-governmental and trade organizations, youth groups, and people living with disabilities (PLWD), among others.
