The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Agripreneurship Programme (LAP), is set to create over 15,000 jobs.

This was disclosed at the closing ceremony of the 26th LAP cohort held on Monday at the Agricultural Training Institute in Araga, Epe, Lagos.

The Lagos Agripreneurship Programme is an initiative that aligns with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems’ role under the THEMES+ Development Agenda, focusing on capacity building, job creation, and improved food security in Lagos State.

The programme, which targets young people aged 18 to 30, is designed to equip participants with modern agricultural and agribusiness skills through practical training, internships, and mentorship.

Addressing attendees, the institute’s director, Ms Folake Ogunlana-Lawal, described the programme as a major platform for youth empowerment and modern agricultural training.

She disclosed that more than 5,000 youths have been directly trained so far, with many beneficiaries going on to create additional jobs for others. According to her, the main goal of LAP is to build a resilient and sustainable agricultural sector in Lagos State.

Ogunlana-Lawal also praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his continued support for the programme and commended stakeholders and partners for their contributions.
