LAMATA MD inspects quality bus corridor projects across Lagos

The Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, on Thursday, undertook a comprehensive inspection tour of the ongoing quality bus corridor projects across various parts of Lagos.
The projects, funded by the Lagos State Government and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), cover four major routes: Ketu–Alapere–Akanimodo (Package 1a), Yaba–Lawanson–Ijesha–Cele (Package 1b), Abule Egba–Iju Ishaga (Package 2), and Igando–Iyana Iba (Package 3).
The initiative is designed to enhance public transportation by constructing laybys with shelters, improving traffic junctions, and upgrading bus corridors with remodelled walkways and improved infrastructure.

Speaking during the tour, Engr. Akinajo expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work being carried out by the contractors. She also reiterated LAMATA’s commitment to delivering the projects within the specified time frame.
“These corridors will not only improve commuter experience but also ensure smoother traffic flow and safer pedestrian access,” she said.
The LAMATA boss was accompanied on the inspection by key officials of the agency, including Engr. Adeyemi Adeniji, Engr. Olufemi Fayombo, Engr. Oluwakemi Ochei, Engr. Kayode Saalu, and Engr. Olalekan Olaniyan, as well as Head of Corporate Communication, Mr. Kolawole Ojelabi.
Contractors and consultants from Advanced Engineering Consultants (AEC), the project’s technical partner, were also present during the site assessments.
