LAMATA partners TfL, CCECC to enhance Lagos rail operations

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), in partnership with Transport for London (TfL) and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), on Thursday held a strategic meeting aimed at optimising Lagos’s rail infrastructure through enhanced signalling systems.
The session, held at LAMATA’s head office, forms part of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)-funded technical support programme, which is now in its second phase of implementation.
Discussions focused on a detailed review of rolling stock requirements and future projections, with the goal of improving headway times and boosting overall operational efficiency.
LAMATA’s Managing Director, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, Technical Adviser on Public Transport Rail, Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga, and other members of the rail and CCECC teams represented the authority at the meeting.
TfL was represented by External Advisory Manager Chris Chinnock and Systems Operational Manager Trevor Stevens, who joined in reviewing analyses and sharing expectations.
Participants committed to developing a unified strategy to enhance the future capacity, reliability, and efficiency of the Lagos rail network.
